The wonder that is Jedward met their match at the World Heritage Blaenavon Ironworks as part of filming for a new CBBC series, Jedward’s Big Adventure.
The famous Irish twins turned their back on their celebrity lifestyle to become tour guides for their brand new, action-packed CBBC show. Together they travel to some of the country’s most popular tourist attractions and compete to give the best tours with the help of some celebrity friends.
The pair were given just 24 hours to learn from the experts everything there was to know about the Blaenavon World Heritage site, before having to communicate the facts to a group of tourists in a way that only they can.
In the episode, which is to be broadcast on Tuesday 7 February 2012, the spiky haired pair will be at Blaenavon with ‘Friday Download’ presenters Richard Wisker and Ceallech Spellman in a fast-paced journey of discovery to uncover more about the Industrial Revolution.
John and Edward also head 90 metres under the ground to experience the darkness of a coalmine, and recreate a working ironworks with the help of lots of smoke – as only they can. To demonstrate how horses used to pull canal boats full of coal up the canal, John and his team mate Richard dress up as a panto horse.
The winning team will be rewarded with a special lesson in how to drive a steam train, whilst the losers will have to eat a bowl of grotty gruel. Who will win and be crowned the best tour guides?
Jedward commented,'We’ve really loved making this show for CBBC. We’ve also learnt so much about this amazing World Heritage site and if all else fails in music we can now take up a career as professional tour guides for Cadw!'
Over the past three years, Jedward’s rise to fame has been phenomenal. With a platinum album, their own reality TV show and a sold out tour under their belts, the crazy and charismatic twins are ready to take on their next challenge.
One thing’s for sure, viewers can expect madness, mayhem and a whole lot of fun from the brothers Grimes.
