2012 marks 12 years since the inaugural Cadw calendar which first appeared in 2000 and which set the pattern for the years to come. The choice of Cadw sites chosen for the 2012 calendar is slightly different as each of the cover images from the past 12 years will grace one of the calendar’s pages. From an atmospheric evening panorama of Caernarfon Castle, through an exquisite study of Strata Florida Abbey’s iconic west door, to a wintry view of Caerphilly Castle reflected in its moat.
The haunting image of Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber in Pembrokeshire that appeared on the cover of the 2000 calendar will not only appear inside, but also, fittingly, on the cover of the 2012 calendar.
Priced at £8.95, the calendar is available to buy from most Cadw sites and on line on the Cadw shop. The historic sites and artefacts featured in the 2012 calendar include, Caerphilly Castle, Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber, Carreg Cennen Castle, Caernarfon Castle, Castle Coch, Strata Florida Abbey, Criccieth Castle, Dolbadarn Castle, Harlech Castle, Dolwyddelan Castle, Beaumaris and St. Davids Cathedral.
The calendar, which plays host to a range of stunning photography showing Wales’s history and culture at its best, would not only make a superb gift for anyone with an interest in Wales, but also for those who appreciate good quality photography of beautiful places.
