FAQs

Can Cadw provide advice on specific maintenance or repair problems?
Cadw does not have the resources to answer enquiries about specific maintenance or repair problems. In the first instance, contact your local authority's building conservation or planning officer who may be able to offer advice or suggest other sources of guidance. You can also call the Technical Advice Line (020 7456 0916) operated by The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings on weekdays between 9:30am and 12:30pm. The advice line staff can answer questions and give advice about individual problems.

Can Cadw recommend professional advisors, contractors or suppliers?
Cadw is unable to make recommendations for services or supplies. Your local authority's building conservation or planning officer may be able to help with suggestions and  professional and trade organizations often maintain useful registers of members, many of which may be consulted online. The website www.buildingconservation.com also has a useful directory of products and services for the conservation and repair of historic buildings. The Technical Advice Line (020 7456 0916) operated by Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings on weekdays between 9:30am and 12:30pm may also be able to help with contact details for contractors or suppliers in your area.
