Make and Break Project — Tinkinswood Neolithic burial chamber.

The aim of the Tinkinswood Community Archaeology Project — in which Cadw worked with Archaeology Wales, the Council for British Archaeology and Amgueddfa Cymru — was to bring local people together with professional archaeologists to explore and reinterpret the great chambered tombs at Tinkinswood and St Lythans.

Untangling portions of the sites’ long histories through clearance, excavation and re-enacted rituals gave participants of all ages a greater sense of identification with and ownership of these magnificent monuments.

Although the project has finished, you can still access background information, images and audio interviews on the Tinkinswood Community Archaeology blog.
