Cadw offers free self led education visits at Cadw Heritage staffed sites where charges are normally applied, to home educated children with their parent tutors, in parity with school educated children. This scheme only covers educational visits which take place during term time, and within normal school/college hours. All additional fee paying public events at Cadw sites are excluded.

For larger organised home education group trips - please go to our main self led visits page and follow the instructions there to book your free self led learning visit.

For single home educated families only  -

• Please Telephone the site a couple of days in advance to check the availability for the date you’d like to visit (less than this and although we will do our best to process your booking, we cannot guarantee a free visit).

• Only once you have agreed a date and time with the site, complete the Home Educating application form to confirm your booking.

• Please see our Terms and conditions our Guidance for group/school visits and our Resources

All bookings are subject to availability and the discretion of the site.

Please be aware that the booking of  free learning visits only applies to our charged sites. There are also many other wonderful sites  - see maps and itineraries page and our education access to unstaffed sites page- providing turn up, free, fun learning opportunities across the country, with different stories to tell.

We hope your children have informative and fun learning days, whichever site / period your children get to learn about and explore. And we appreciate feedback on  the children’s learning around your visit to our Cadw Education mailbox.
