Pupil Deprivation Grant

The Welsh Government’s Pupil Deprivation Grant (PDG) provides financial support to help tackle the effects of poverty on attainment.

In early 2015, the Welsh Government published a document highlighting how the grant can be used to support art and cultural activities.

“Learners from disadvantaged backgrounds may have limited access to cultural experiences and arts activities. This guidance sets out how the grant can be used to improve access to arts and cultural activities and help raise the aspirations of deprived learners.”

Cultural activities, such as visiting an historical site and taking part in one of our activities can increase confidence, motivation and aspirations as well as being great for group working, communication and developing skills.

Estyn also advises that the provision of cultural experiences is one of the keys to a successful school.

So, teachers, what are you waiting for! If your school receives a PDG, use it to get you, your colleagues and your class to a heritage site today!
