Car Parking Information
There are no on site car parking facilities at this time due to on-site works. There is a privately run beach car park (which charges for parking) in lower Harlech. To find the beach car park, follow the yellow directional signage for ‘Park and Ride’. Pay and display parking is also available in the town centre.

No vehicle access is permitted to the site.

Access for restricted mobility
Visitors will need to be aware that there are 15 steps to get down into the visitor centre and then a further 40 steps to get into the castle. Once inside the castle, there are uneven surfaces and more steps


  • Male/Female toilet facilities available including facilities for those with restricted mobility however these are not easily accessible at this time
  • Snacks are available from the gift shop
  • There are portable induction loops available to use
  • Mobile signal is fair

A PRS licence is held and a Premises licence (not for consumption) is also held

Ground Pegs allowed?
Yes – to a depth of 6 inches. Hirers are advised to use pegs which are as thin as possible to avoid damage.

Any restricted areas?
Yes – North Gatehouse Tower is restricted due to height restrictions within the staircase. There will also be some restricted areas on the site during conservation or maintenance work.

Castle car park closed until April 2015 and steep 40 step staircase to get onto site. Scaffolding in the gatehouse narrows the passage down to 90cm at its narrowest point. Alternative entry to the inner court can be gained through the north wall but there are 6 steps down to reach this point
