Cadw is seeking dedicated key keepers with responsibility for checking the following monuments on a regular basis:
South and West Wales
The generic duties at or around the monument are:
- Locking and unlocking the monument on a daily basis for 361 days a year
- Picking up litter
- Reporting any monument damage
- Reporting anti-social behaviour.
The role of key keeper is not a salaried position. A very modest token fee is paid on a quarterly basis gross of income tax and national insurance contributions.
Key keepers are independent and are not Welsh Government employees, agents, partners or representatives.
They will be expected to live in close proximity to their monuments and no more than two miles away.
Jayne Rowlands, head of Cadw’s Estates and Property team said: ‘The role of key keeper is an invaluable one to Cadw. We rely on our key keepers to ensure the sites are always well-presented and well-turned out for our visitors.’
