Lighting up our historic sites

Our sites make spectacular backdrops for lighting requests to advertise your charity or campaign – find out how to request this for your special event here.

  • April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day, and to commemorate this day in 2017, CADW, Carmarthenshire People First and Inspiration Lifestyle Services collaborated to light up Kidwelly Castle in blue.

Over the last few months, our sites have been ‘lit up’ to promote some very special causes – from TN Awareness Day, Guide Dogs Week to Pancreatic Cancer UK!

If you would like to light up our sites, please send an e-mail with your request to our Marketing Team who will get back to you.

Before you submit your application, here are some guidelines for lighting up our monuments that applicants must comply with to prevent damage to the monument and to ensure co-ordination between all lighting requests and clashing events/marketing activities.

• Requests to light up our monuments will only be considered for charities or not for profit local groups.
• Requests will only be granted following clearance by the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism as well as colleagues within the department.
• An appropriate contractor must be consulted on all requests and they would be responsible for the materials and installation / removal of your request. Fees would be payable to them for this service.
• All press releases regarding the light projection would need to be sent to Cadw in addition to pictures of the monument once it is lit up. We will share these across our social media platforms and our website to further promote your event.

Additional requirements and documents may be needed depending on your application.
