A Revamped Great Hall

From underfloor heating to wall-to-wall heraldry, we’re recreating the opulence of a medieval hall with the comforts of the 21st century; a space where schools and community groups can immerse themselves in the dramatic history of Wales.

Access for all

Our plans include additional access paths and ramps to enable all history enthusiasts and curious travellers to explore like never before.

Interpretation plans

Our new interactive exhibits will bring to life some of the most important people in 13th century Wales, while our captivating stories will inspire the next generation of archaeologists and historians, the future keepers of our heritage.

To join us please see our tour details below:

  • tours begin on Friday 10 November (pre-booking is NOT required, please request to join a tour on arrival at the castle).
  • tours are free and are available on Fridays at 10.30am – 12pm and Sundays at 2–3.30pm
  • each tour has a capacity of 25 people and is available for visitors in groups of 8 or less.

Please note

It will not be possible to access the closed areas of the castle (including the great hall) due to health and safety reasons.
