In 1914, the Naylor Leyland Institute was erected, ostensibly to provide technical education in the town. Its benefactor was Lady Naylor Leyland, of nearby Nantclwyd Hall.

The building continued to be used for educational purposes until at least the 1970s, with local people remembering woodwork and domestic science classes from the local high school taking place in the centre. In the 1960s, the town's youth club met in the centre. In the 1990s and early 2000s, it became the office of Denbighshire Voluntary Services who remain today.

For Open Doors, the building will be open, following a recent refurbishment, for people to see the early 20th century design.

The Naylor Leyland Centre is located on Well Street - LL15 1AF.

Well Street is close to both Market Street and Wynnstay Road where buses stop in Ruthin.
