Here be dragons!

Cadw’s Lifelong Learning team have delivered a range of puppet making workshops in conjunction with Youth Shedz Cymru and Puppet Soup this summer.

The workshops have been delivered in various community venues across north Wales inviting families and young people to create their very own Welsh dragon and have been a tremendous success.

The workshops, led by Puppet Soup — a puppetry group based in Wales — form part of the Welsh Myths and Legends project which encourages young people to learn about the rich history of Wales’ myths and legends while learning the ancient art of puppetry.

During the creative process, there were many puppet characters to meet and greet which inspired the creators to think about how their dragons could be brought to life and fly the skies of gogledd Cymru.

By the end of the workshops, families and young people had created over one hundred dragon puppets of dazzling designs and colours: whilst discovering the myths of ancient Wales and its legendary dragons.
