Young Custodians Wales is a Cadw initiative to encourage young people to take ownership of and value their historic environment. It is open to schools and youth groups across Wales.

It provides a framework to help enable teachers and youth leaders, to use their local Cadw monuments - heritage sites. for learning events and activities, to create an outdoor ‘Learning Zone’ beyond the classroom or club space, within their communities.

It's about creating partnerships and spaces that complement the Welsh Curriculum with cross curricular learning;  encouraging the Young Custodians to value and respect their Cadw monuments and wider historic environment, creating a stronger sense of belonging -Cynefin.

Take up and embrace a heritage site near you, and you could collect a certificate from Cadw recognising your school/group as the Young Custodians Wales of your monument and be entered into our ‘Hall of Young Custodians’ on our website.

Maybe start by exploring with your school or group what the Historic Environment is and why it matters – See Our priorities | Cadw (gov.wales)
