Join Unloved Heritage? project officers, participants and partner organisations on 19 and 20 February 2021 for a free conference about creativity, heritage and young people.

Unloved Heritage? is a Wales-wide youth-led National Lottery Heritage Funded project aimed at engaging groups of young people and encouraging them to shine a light on the forgotten heritage within their local areas.

This online event will celebrate some of the creative work the young people have done, and highlight what both participants and organisations have got out of the project.

It is aimed at two audiences — people in heritage who want to do more work with young people and anyone working, volunteering or engaging with young people looking for opportunities for them.

It will showcase some of the activities the projects have been doing and offer practical advice on youth heritage projects.

There will also be a range of ‘hands on’ sessions and the conference will conclude with reflections on the lasting legacy of the project as it draws to a close in March 2021.

Polly Groom, Cadw’s Unloved Heritage? project officer said:

“Unloved Heritage? has been an amazing project to work on, and we’ve all learnt so much along the way. I’d like to think that the conference will provide a bit of inspiration — I’d love for people to go away thinking “wow! We should do that!"

"There are youth workers who perhaps haven’t thought about the opportunities heritage projects can offer, and heritage organisations who are daunted by starting to work with young people — I hope they’ll all find something inspiring.

"And how many other conferences have a keynote session delivered by a brilliant spoken word artist, poet and activist?!”

The draft schedule includes:

Friday 19 February

Unloved Heritage? — Who we are, what the projects look like, and the young people involved

How and Why to get involved in a Youth Heritage Project
