Penarth Pier Pavilion are delighted to announce the new season of Art History lectures led by Freelance Art History Lecturer, Stella Grace Lyons BA (Hons) Art History, University of Bristol. These lectures are part of Penarth Pier Pavilions evolving remit for Art and are an ideal way to learn more about different styles, subjects and content of paintings ranging from Da Vinci to Picasso.

Now offering a wider variety of lecture topics, the first afternoon course is titled Everyday Life in Art, ideal for anyone with or without a background in art, but with a keen interest in paintings. It is an excellent way to learn more about the hugely exciting canon of art history in the friendly environment of the Penarth Pier Pavilion. Due to the dedication of the previous attendees Penarth Pier Pavilion have also introduced a special discount for visitors booking all four of the lectures.

Penarth Pier Pavilion are thrilled to also introduce a series of ‘Day Schools’, day long courses designed to educate and inspire visitors about topics: Welsh Art, Winter in Art and the Architecture and Decorative Art of William Burges. These day schools will provide guests with a wealth of knowledge around the topics and no doubt significantly increase their enjoyment and awareness of the subject.

Stella Lyons is an established Arts professional, regularly lecturing in Art History for Saga’s Art Appreciation Holidays, the Cardiff based adult education company, Classical Education Forum, and the Worker’s Educational Association (WEA), where she has lectured on a wide range of artistic themes and periods. She also lectures to large groups (150+) for various Art Societies and for the National Trust. Stella also spent a year studying Renaissance art in Italy at the British Institute of Florence

Receiving much praise for her work, one attendee of the Visions of Wales Day-School gave this testimonial:

“Eileen and I would like to say how much we enjoyed your Art in Wales day school and to thank you for all the careful preparation and hard work that obviously went in to the preparation of the lectures” – Eileen and Frances

Regarding the previous lecture series at Penarth Pier Pavilion, Stella received yet more positive comments:
“Very enjoyable course, Interesting and varied selection of paintings and Artists. I particularly enjoyed the lecture on symbolism; it unlocked the meaning of the paintings shown, and others. Stella invites audience comments and the discussions provide more insight” – Thomas
