Creating opportunities through culture programme

Cadw and Girlguiding Cymru

The Castell Cariad Challenge is a new initiative from Girlguiding Cymru and Cadw, which aims to encourage girls and volunteers to explore castles and other historic sites in Wales as well as a range of fun history activities.

Girls who complete the challenge can receive a certificate and a badge.

The Castell Cariad Challenge is a great way for girls of all ages to learn about the history of Wales, have fun, and make new friends. It is also a great way to encourage girls to get outdoors and explore their local area.

Find out more by visiting the Girlguiding Cymru website to get involved: Girlguiding Cymru / Castell Cariad Challenge

Fusion

Cadw is one of the key partners supporting the Welsh Government’s Fusion: Creating opportunities through culture programme alongside Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales and Arts Council of Wales.

Culture and heritage can have a huge impact on people’s lives. The Fusion programme contributes to the goals outlined in the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act particularly the ‘a Wales of cohesive communities’ and ‘a Wales of vibrant culture and thriving Welsh language’ goals.

View Fusion web pages gov.wales/fusion for an overview of the current programme and the recent achievements, delivered by the Fusion coordinators — supported by a variety of local and national partners.

Tempo time credits in Wales

Cadw is a partner supporting the Welsh Government funded Tempo All Wales programme.

We enable free access to our heritage sites to Tempo credit holders Timebanking Scheme Visits | Cadw (gov.wales) and work with Tempo to widen the network of opportunities.

The Tempo All Wales programme is building a nationwide ‘Time Credit’ community, designed to encourage, recognise, and reward volunteering across the country. It seeks to tackle impacts of poverty on communities and mobilise local social action through volunteering and support areas to achieve their local well-being goals; which includes encouraging sustainable behaviour and efficient use of resources.

As a result of this project, it is hoped that Welsh communities will benefit from infrastructure that supports better connected communities through cohesion and support, as well as a more equal and healthier Wales.

Over the past two years over 560 community groups have joined the Tempo Time Credit network across Wales enabling 4,222+ volunteers to be recognised with over 50,000 Tempo Time Credits.
