Historic buildings grant
We are now inviting applications for expressions of interest for grant funding for financial year 2019-20.
The deadline for application is 15 November 2019.
Late applications will be declined.
The historic buildings grant scheme supports the Welsh Government strategy entitled 'Prosperity for All' by offering grants towards the cost of repairing and restoring historic community assets, such as village and community halls, institutes, libraries etc. Places of worship which are open for wider community use may also apply.
The focus is on repair schemes which will help give a new lease of life to listed buildings that are at risk and which will deliver benefits to Welsh communities. One of the ways in which these benefits can be provided is through skills development, training, and access opportunities. You will find more information about this in ‘Grants for Historic Assets: Skills Development and Access Opportunities’, and ‘Criteria for Assessing Historic Buildings for Grant Assistance’
We would normally fund the costs of up to 50% of grant eligible works up to a maximum of £50,000; however each application will be considered on a case be case basis.
Grants are also available for historic buildings from other Welsh Government Departments, such as the Community Facilities Programme, or from organisations such as the National Lottery Heritage Fund or the National Churches Trust.
A free and regularly updated online guide to relevant sources of funding for historic buildings is published by the Heritage Funding Directory.
