Buying Cadw Membership
- What do I receive from Cadw when I join? You will receive a welcome pack containing your membership card, a copy of our new Cadw Handbook, a car sticker and biannual copies of your exclusive members’ magazine Heritage in Wales.
- What types of memberships do you offer? All our membership types e.g. Adult / Family / Senior etc. are available as annual or lifetime subscriptions. All annual memberships can be purchased and renewed by a one-off payment, direct debit (10% discount) or with Tesco Clubcard vouchers as full or part payment.
- How can I find out about Cadw site locations? You can use our Find a Place to Visit page on our website or use your new Cadw handbook which lists all sites in Cadw’s care and address information including postcodes and what3words.
- How do I find out about the facilities on offer at a Cadw site? Once you’ve decided to visit a Cadw site, please check the monument page for facilities information including: accessibility, audio guides, parking, toilets and refreshments.
- What do I do when I arrive at a Cadw site as a new member? Simply show your active digital or plastic membership card to our team who will scan your card and provide information about the site and how to make the most of your visit.
- If the site offers an audio guide is this included in my membership? Yes, as a Cadw member you receive a complimentary free audio guide (please check our monument page facilities list to see if the site offers an audio guide).
- Does my membership include free entry to Cadw events? Free entry to most of our events will be included in your membership however we also offer additional ticketed events which can include additional costs. Please check our event page for up-to-date information on our event programme.
- How can I pay for my membership? We accept online payments including debit and credit cards, Tesco Clubcard vouchers or by setting up an annual direct debit (we do not offer monthly or quarterly direct debit, and we do not accept cheques).
- Are children included in my membership? Yes, children are included in all adult and senior memberships (up to 6 children per adult or senior member).
- What is the benefit of paying by direct debit? If you choose to pay by direct debit (one annual payment) you will receive 10% off your membership price as a thank you for helping us reduce our administration costs.
- What happens at the end of my annual membership? We will contact you to ask if you would like to renew or that your direct debit is going to be processed. You can also access your member account online and renew there.
- How many Cadw sites are Dog Friendly? Many of our historic places are dog friendly, all our dog friendly site are listed on our website here: Dog friendly days out at Cadw sites around Wales | Cadw
Managing your membership
- How do I update my membership details? You can update your membership details through your online account, please follow this link: Cadw membership
- How do I add more people to my membership? You can upgrade your membership through your online account.
- How do I remove people from my membership? If you would like to downgrade your membership by removing members, please contact our team by email or telephone.
- Can I cancel my membership mid-way through my annual membership and receive a refund? You can cancel your membership, but you will not receive a refund after 14 days from the date of purchase has passed.
- I want to stay at a Cadw holiday property, is there a discount for being a member. Yes, as a Cadw member you’re entitled to a 10% discount; please contact our membership team to find out what the active code is for your stay.
- Can I opt to continue to use my plastic membership card? Yes, we will automatically send you a digital membership card but you can also request a plastic card, your card will display a barcode which our team will scan on your arrival.
- Can I request a replacement car sticker? Yes, our team will post you a replacement car sticker on request, however we charge £2.50 administration and postal fee for each request.
- Can I unsubscribe from marketing communications and stay a member? Yes of course, you can use the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails or get in touch with our team who will remove you from our marketing database. You will however continue to receive service emails about your membership including price changes, benefit changes and renewal communications.
Cadw Gift membership
- Can I buy a gift membership and pay by direct debit? No, we do not accept direct debit payments for gift membership, however the gift recipient can choose to renew by direct debit.
- I’ve been bought gift membership; can I renew myself? Yes, you can renew your membership as a second-year member and enjoy all the benefits of being a renewed member i.e. enjoy free entry to all English Heritage, Historic Scotland and Manx historic sites.
- Can I buy gift membership for someone overseas? Yes, but we only offer digital memberships for overseas members (digital membership card, online access to Heritage in Wales).
- Can I add a message to my gift membership? No, unfortunately we’re not able to add a gift message to the membership.
- Can I buy gift membership and use my Tesco Clubcard vouchers? Yes you can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers when purchasing gift membership.
Cadw life membership
- What sort of life membership packages do you offer? You can purchase life membership for anyone aged 0–64yrs or senior life membership Aged 65+ for yourself or to gift to a loved one.
- What are the benefits of life membership? In addition to the benefits of annual membership, as a life member you are entitled to bring one adult guest and all children / grandchildren (under 18 years old) for free into admission charging sites.
- How can I pay for Life Membership? We accept card payments for the full amount at the time of purchase. We do not accept direct debit, Tesco Clubcard or cheques.
- Can I enjoy free entry to English Heritage and Historic Scotland as soon as I become a life member? Yes, as soon as you purchase life membership you enjoy all the benefits of being a renewing member.
