Visit Denbigh Castle

Denbigh castle has a free car park with an accessible parking space: Google maps view

The car park surface is even and gravelled. The visitor centre is a short walk of around 50 meters via a resin path up a moderate incline.

The entrance to the castle is across a wide wooden bridge, then via a flat gravelled area through the gatehouse. There are no steps on this journey. As you enter the gatehouse you will be greeted by loud sound effects illustrating the sounds of a medieval castle.

Access into the visitor centre is through a door with an automatic opening panel (with a very small ramp).

The visitor centre is set within the monument, and features a low admissions desk, automatic doors, wide doorways and flat even surfaces.

Accessible toilets and baby changing facilities are located within the visitor centre.

Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and non-assistance dogs must remain on the ground floor only.

Denbigh Castle has a small patio area adjacent to the visitor centre and large open grassy area within the site, some of which is flat.

A good view of the castle can be enjoyed by visitors from these areas, with lots of room for children to play. Navigation around the site is over grass, with no internal pathways.

Access to the walk walks is via a long steep staircase, with uneven steps. The ground surface on the wall walks is also moderately uneven.

Other areas of interest within the site also include a small number of uneven steps (downward to enter) and surfaces, including the Postern gate and green chambers. Surfaces within these areas are gravelled. Internal areas (e.g., corridors) within the monument are few.
