Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people have been part of Welsh society for centuries.

They are distinct populations, with their own backgrounds, cultures and histories. This short introduction to the history of these populations is adapted from a paper commissioned by Cadw and produced by Dr Adrian Marsh, on behalf of the Romani Cultural and Arts Company.
