Bersham has a grade 2 listed colliery engine house, complete with winding engine and drum, together with the only remaining colliery headgear left in the North Wales coalfield. The headgear is designated a structural ancient monument.

Volunteers from North Wales Miner's Association Trust will open the engine house to the public on Sunday 19 September from 10am until 4pm. There will be tours of the building and yard, film shows, and displays of mining memorabilia on site.

By car - From the A483 take the Rhosllanerchrugog turn off. Take the A5152 towards Rhostyllen with the Esso Service Station on your left. Turn right into Colliery Road by the DAF garage. Take 1st left before the engine house and the free car park is on the left. Entry through small gate opposite car park.

By bus - there is usually a bus leaving Wrexham bus station every half hour. Advisable to check before leaving home.

Ground outside is mostly flat though gravelled. The first floor of engine house is inaccessible for wheelchair users. Plenty of seating outside.
