Capel Mawr Methodist Chapel was originally built in 1793. It was rebuilt in 1829, with a schoolroom and vestry added in 1867. The present chapel, dated 1880, is built in the Classical style of the long-wall entry type and can seat around one thousand people. It was built to the design of architect Richard Owen (Liverpool), with further alterations in 1892 by architect Richard Davies (Bangor). The organ was installed in 1905. Capel Mawr is Grade 2 Listed as a particularly fine late-19th century chapel with good original character and a fine interior.
