Machynlleth Library, located on Maengwyn Street in the heart of Machynlleth, occupies a site with significant historical roots. Before the library's establishment, the site was home to Christ Church, an English Presbyterian chapel built in 1881. The church was closed for worship on 3 October 1965 and was demolished in August 1967. The foundation stone of Christ Church, laid by Mary Cornelia, Marchioness of Londonderry, on 1 June 1881, has been preserved and is now displayed at the entrance of the library.

Today, Machynlleth Library continues serving as a vital community hub, blending modern services with a rich historical legacy.
