Rose Cottage shows that not all late medieval houses in Ruthin were occupied by wealthy merchants. It is basically a timber-framed hall house, retaining some of its original wattle and daub. The building had only three rooms, indicating that it was occupied by a less wealthy family.

Improvements were made, including the installation of a fireplace in the 17th century but, by the 20th century, Rose Cottage was in a dilapidated state. Restored in 2000, the achievement was recognised by the Civic Trust for Wales, and locally by Ruthin and District Civic Association.

No booking required.

Address - Rose Cottage, Rhos Street, Ruthin, Denbighshire, LL15 1DU.
