Built in the 14th century, a medieval tombstone stands in the porch and the font is Norman in its origin. In 1894, the Talbot family had the church rebuilt and refurbished so that it appears almost entirely late Victorian. Much of the decoration is ornate carved wood and marble, and the alabaster reredos is particularly attractive. It is impossible to do justice in describing the quality of the interior structures and richness of decorations  the church was described by the Rev. J D Davies as ‘the most elaborately treated ecclesiastical building in Wales, if not the West of England’

At the Wonder of Wellbeing we are passionate and dedicated to creating inviting spaces for people to find renewal and hope, all within the stunning beauty and endless adventure of Gower. At this year's special Open Doors event, we will provide opportunities for visitors to pause with some thought provoking questions to reflect upon and accompanied by beautiful prayers. People will be free to connect and engage  for as much or as little  as they wish. Visits can be self guided or led by volunteers who will show people around.

No booking required.

St Nicholas, Nicholaston, Penmaen, Swansea, SA3 2HL Situated on the seaward side of the A4418 South Gower Road. The church does not have dedicated parking, but there are small laybys nearby.

117 & 118 Bus from Swansea to Nicholaston.
