Open Doors - St. Tudno's Church, Llandudno
Set on a windswept slope of the Great Orme, overlooking the sea, the ancient Church of St. Tudno is a place of pilgrimage, peace and prayer. Founded by St. Tudno in the 6th century and giving the town of Llandudno its name, the present building dates from the 12th - 15th centuries.
Features include a 12th century font, 14th century grave covers and 15th century carvings, while the Victorian and early 20th century stained glass includes some fine examples of the manufacturers' works. The churchyard contains many interesting graves and is managed to encourage wildlife.
The church will be open every day in September, with leaflets to provide self-guided tours of the church and churchyard.
The church is a very active place of worship, and visitors are very welcome to join the open-air services at 12.30pm on Sundays. On Sunday afternoons, the Friends of St. Tudno’s Church will offer refreshments and talks about the church and churchyard.
