Visit Castell Rhuddlan

Rhuddlan Castle has a small free car park situated immediately outside the visitor centre: Google maps view

The car park has one dedicated accessible space.

The area is flat and gravelled.

Access into the small visitor centre is flat and doorways are wide enough for large mobility scooters.

The visitor centre is small and situated next to the castle, which can be accessed via a very short walk on a gravelled even path, and includes a wide flat, uneven bridge.

On the castle side of the bridge there is a small number of cobbles as you enter the nearest tower; to avoid these please access the castle through the far gatehouse.

Toilets: there is a single toilet onsite, which is fully accessible and has baby changing facilities.

Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and non-assistance dogs must remain on the ground floor only.

The grounds of Rhuddlan Castle are flat and covered with well-maintained grass. There are small areas of gravel surface. Access to the lower levels of the towers is possible but is over uneven ground and/or including steps.

The upper and lower levels of the monument can be accessed via modern, metal spiral staircases. Ground surfaces on the upper levels is uneven in places. Access into the moat area is possible down a short flight of wide stairs.

There are a small number of tables and chairs outside of the visitor centre, suitable for picnics or having a hot drink. Whilst there are no benches or picnic tables within the site there are plenty of low walls to sit on and the moat or bank make lovely areas for a blanket picnic.
