As part of the investment, visitors to the castle will be welcomed into a new visitor centre, browse around an enhanced retail space and be able to muse on the medieval world in a brand new on-site café.
Follow our timeline of developments from unveiling the concept and site plans in June 2021 to the start of the refurbishment of the medieval Great Hall, installation of visitor access paths and ramps, comprehensive new interpretation, and the construction of a wildflower garden.
