Monastic Life in Medieval Monasteries and Abbeys
Come and see The Chapter of Stronghold re-enactment group at Tintern Abbey, whose members will portray aspects of the lives of monastic people in the high medieval period.
Learn how monks, nuns, and lay-people wrote, prayed, lived, and ate at Tintern Abbey. You'll see a holy reliquary, manuscript writing, authentic cooking, and other important aspects of life of the medieval clergy.

From Monday 8 April 2024 prices shown include a 10% reduction. This is due to scaffolding being erected around the Gothic church to enable us to reach and carry out essential repairs to the weathered and crumbling sandstone on the church’s upper walls, allowing future generations to enjoy visiting this magnificent site.
