Open Doors - Hartsheath House

Hartsheath is a Grade II* 18th and 19th-century country house in a neoclassical style, set in a 19th-century landscape park and large attractive gardens. It has a colourful history, including its transfer to the Welsh Iron and Coal Company in the 1820s following the scandalous flight of its last Lloyd owner Gwyllym Lloyd Wardle to Italy to evade his creditors; colonial connections to the East India Company and Liverpool slavers, and its requisitioning by the army in World War Two. 

The suite of formal rooms include a Drawing Room with trompe l’oeil decoration with pineapple motifs. The house also contains a unique collection of Welsh watercolours, as well as an interesting collection of family portraits, furniture and porcelain.

For Open Doors, there will be a tour of the house, and visitors will also be free to wander through the garden.
