Open Doors - Lôn Swan Independent Chapel

Lôn Swan is an Independent Chapel and was first built in 1742, altered in 1812. The present chapel, dated 1839, is built in the Classical symmetrical style of the gable-­entry type. A new show-piece facade in Italian Renaissance style and Manse were added about 1880 and a schoolroom 1907. Fine chapel interior with U­-shaped gallery supported on cast iron colonnettes and raised up behind the pulpit is a large organ by Bellamy of Denbigh.

The 2026 Denbigh Open Doors Weekend launches on Friday 18 September with a self-drive Tour of the Vale, followed by an evening lecture at Theatr Twm o'r Nant, “Restoring and repositioning Brookhouse Mill for the future”. Over the following two days, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, thirty historically important sites in the locale will be open to the public. This will be supplemented by children’s workshops, guided tours and an interactive show. A booking service for events with limited places will be available through Denbigh Library, closer to the weekend. Further information will be available at -
