Located in Llandrindod Wells, Powys Archives serves as the official repository for the records of the county of Powys (Montgomeryshire, Radnorshire, and Breconshire). The collections date from the 14th century and can be used for all types of research, including tracing your family history, discovering the history of your house, and finding out more about the history of your village or community.

Visit Powys Archives on the 26th of September for our Open Doors event. This is your chance to see behind-the-scenes of our new project uncovering the works of local Powys photographer, Ernie Husson, and some of the results of our recent accessibility 3D model printing project. There’s something for all the family to discover! This Open Doors event is part of a celebration of Welsh archives via the Archives Wales Alive / Archifau Cymru Byw project taking place in September 2026. Archives are for everyone, so please join us if you are interested in history, heritage, culture and creativity!

Address - Powys Archives, Unit 29 Ddole Road Enterprise Park, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 6DF.
