St Cystennin has a long history and it is suggested that there was a church on this site from 338AD, and it was dedicated to one of the Roman Emperors Constantine. However we know that there was a chapel on the site from around 1180 when the Monks came to Conwy, the first real church was built in the great era of church building in North Wales around 1480. Five of the stained glass window panels have been dating from this period have been restored and are on view in the church. The present church dates from 1843 when it was rebuilt on the same site. The Church has been updated with a disabled access and a toilet installed. The church is located in a rural environment in the Mochdre Valley

The Church will be open for two days on Saturday 9th and 16th of September from 10 am until 2pm. On show will be copies of the registers dating back to almost 1600 and the stained glass panels. In addition there will be a display of the information and history of the area of Llangystennin together with a display of old photographs of the church and surrounding area including the train station of Mochdre and Pabo
