This large-scale municipal cemetery was the first municipally-constructed cemetery in England and Wales. It contains four chapels, ornate Victorian memorials and a Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cross of Sacrifice and official War Graves plot.

Andrew Hemmings, an accredited tour guide for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, will talk about the work of the Commission in and after the two World Wars, and the architecture and horticulture of War Grave cemeteries in Newport and around the world. 

The tour will last 1 hour, with the opportunity to talk along rough paths to the War Graves plot . This is a Western Front Cemetery in miniature.

The tour is NOT weather dependent.

Booking required. Please book via CWGC website and Eventbrite.

Location - Baasaleg Rd., Newport, NP20 3PY.             

No. 151 bus from Newport to Newbridge stops at the cemetery gates.
