Open Doors - St Woolos Cemetery, Newport

This large-scale municipal cemetery was the first municipally-constructed cemetery in England and Wales. It contains four chapels, ornate Victorian memorials and a Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cross of Sacrifice and official War Graves plot.

The tour will begin at the Cross of Sacrifice with a short introduction to the history of the Cemetery and to the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission CWGC. Visitors will the be escorted to the specially maintained war graves plot. They will be able to view the headstones and ask questions of the accompanying guides. 

The tour is NOT weather dependent.
