Tredegar Town Clock opens its very small door (in fact, it may well be one of the smallest doors to open in Wales this year) on Saturday 6 September 2025. The annual opening of the Town Clock takes place between 10am and 12 noon.

Situated in The Circle, Tredegar NP22 3PS, it was built in 1858 as the result of a bazaar held by Mary Elizabeth Davies, the wife of the manager of Tredegar Ironworks, Mr. R.P. Davis, who lived in Bedwellty House at the time. At 72 feet tall, and built of cast iron, it is the tallest freestanding iron clock in the UK. The Clock dominates The Circle in Tredegar and has been a gathering place for celebrations ever since it was built.

Open Doors events gives everyone the chance to explore historic buildings and sites free of charge, especially those not normally open to the general public, and Tredegar Town Council is delighted to open the door of the Town Clock, Tredegar, for this annual event. As part of the Open Doors celebrations, all visitors will receive a certificate, having accessed the Town Clock and chosen to climb the interior ladders - therefore a moderate degree of mobility and appropriate footwear / clothing should be worn.
