Open Doors - Trident Park Energy Recovery Facility
The Trident Park Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Cardiff is the largest ERF in Wales treating waste from the local authority and local business contracts. The facility, which has been operational since 2014, handles around 350,00 tonnes of residual (non-recyclable) waste per year. It diverts at least 95% of South Wales’s non-recyclable waste away from landfill and generates 250GWh of electricity for the National Grid.
Ever wondered what happens to your black bin waste once it’s left your house? Did you know that your waste is not rubbish after all but can be transformed into renewable energy to power thousands of homes in Cardiff every year? Well, this is the kind of magic that is happening everyday behind the scenes at the Trident Park Energy Recovery Facility.
Viridor would like to invite you to tour the Energy Recovery Facility in Cardiff, where the visitor centre manager will show you how non-recyclable waste is diverted away from landfill and processed safety into electricity and other recycled products for the construction industry.
Space is extremely limited so booking is essential.
