Car Parking Information

This site has 80 dedicated parking spaces available on site and spaces for four buses. The top car park is located just outside the entrance and the middle and lower car parks are located five minutes walk away from the site.

Site Access

There is no vehicular access to the site however restrictions do apply. The car park outside the monument is accessed via a gate and then a relatively steep driveway. The gate is wide enough for a 60 seater coach to pass through.

Access for restricted mobility

The site is accessible however visitors will need to be aware of a number of areas within the site including a steep driveway leading to the monument followed by a steep wooden drawbridge (handrail attached). The main pitched stone courtyard is relatively flat with sloping edges around on side. The internal rooms within the monument are accessed by stone staircases of which two thirds are very narrow (most with handrails provided).

Interior Spaces

There is an interior space within this site which is the Banqueting Hall which measures 35x25x40 feet. There are two entrances – main door 37’ x 86’ and double doors to drawing room 46’ x 96’. There are 28 stone steps leading to this room. The windows are 8-12 x 36’ plus stained glass on top. There are six Eco spotlights available. Noteworthy features of this room include the wooden decorated panelled ceiling , murals on walls and the feature fireplace

Yes – The Minstrel's gallery around the Drawing Room is normally closed to the public but can be made available for filming. The drawing room is licensed to hold 30 people. There are no other restricted areas apart from during conservation and maintenance works
