Due to concerns over the further spread of Coronavirus and the well-being of our visitors, we regret to report that all Cadw unstaffed monuments and car parks will be closed from 5pm Monday 23 March until further notice. We do look forward to inviting people to once again enjoy these outstanding monuments as soon as we are able.
Burial site and time capsule from the Neolithic period
This Neolithic (New Stone Age) chambered tomb’s elongated layout was dictated by its position on a narrow, rocky ridge. Excavations have revealed up to four separate chambers built through several phases of construction.
The most recent chamber is marked by a tall portal stone on the ridge’s eastern side, while uprights and a capstone measuring 10ft/3m by 5ft/1.5m to the west are from the site’s earliest developments.
