Tretower Court in the Brecon Beacons National Park is a restored medieval courtyard house built by Sir Roger Vaughan in the fifteenth century, and provides an exceptionally romantic setting for your civil wedding or partnership ceremony.
Magnificent timberwork survives in the northern and western ranges, with later Classical-style windows dating to the 1630s. There is also a recreated fifteenth-century garden that provides a beautiful tranquil setting for photographic memories of your special day.
The courtyard house overlooks the castle, which was established as an earth and timber fortification during the Norman conquest of the area and later rebuilt in stone.
There are three areas within the court that are available for your ceremony. The great hall is located at ground level and accessed via the cobbled courtyard. The two other rooms are located on the first-floor level.
The Great Hall and Upper West Range can accommodate 60 people, with the North Range Apartments up to 100 people.
Times may vary depending on seasonal opening hours. Please note that Tretower Court and Castle is open from Thursday to Saturday, November to March.
We can accept bookings for the hire of Tretower Court 13 months in advance of the date. For example, bookings for any date in June 2021 can be taken from the first working day in May 2020.
Please note that once the booking has been confirmed you will need to sign our Location Agreement, and provide us with a copy of your Public Liability Insurance one month prior to the function.
"We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue for our wedding in June 2018. My husband and I didn’t really know what kind of venue we were looking for, but as soon as we found Tretower nothing else would do. The local area is beautiful, lovely for picturesque photos, and the venue itself was exactly what we were looking for – a small, historic space where we could celebrate our nuptials with our nearest and dearest. The staff could not have been more helpful, from our initial look around the venue all the way through to the big day. We wouldn’t have changed a thing!"

"We knew we wanted something a little different for our wedding. We wanted a venue that was special to us and our guests, and Tretower Court gave us this. The staff were so friendly, flexible and supportive, so that we could make sure that we had the wedding we wanted – not just a template that someone else had developed. Our guests loved exploring the castle and grounds and interacting with the re-enactors. Everything was perfect."
