Plants have been produced on this site for over one hundred years.
The nursery was originally used as a kitchen garden, growing produce for Cardiff Castle and the Bute family, under the guidance of Andrew Pettigrew. The nursery has been growing plants for the parks and green spaces of Cardiff since the land was bequeathed to the city by the Bute family over seventy years ago.
Come and join a tour of the glasshouses and buildings that make up the nursery. As well as looking at the plants being grown for the city's bedding displays and poinsettia production, the tour will also talk about the history of the nursery and about some of the techniques and technology that are being used to help produce close to half a million plants at the nursery each year.
