This original Carnegie Library, which opened in 1908, is still used as a community library. A grade 2 listed building, it was designed and built by the architect E.A. Johnson. It lies at the heart of Dowlais, surrounded by other historic buildings, such as St John’s Church and Dowlais Stables.

For Open Doors, there will be a guided 'walk and talk' by local historian Huw Williams around Dowlais, to look for the remnants of the many railways that once criss-crossed Dowlais in all directions. Dowlais Library will host an exhibition of images to show the different railway stations and tracklines that existed.

Dowlais Library will be open from 10am. The ‘walk and talk’ will start from Dowlais Library at 10.30am.
