A day with acoustic Celtic folk band Brimstone, providing a flavour of music from the Celtic nations.

Brimstone is a Celtic folk band. On their previous visit to the abbey they introduced the types of musical structure that lie behind traditional Celtic music. On this visit they'll continue sharing these traits but also the kinds of landscape in which Celtic people lived. It will be a journey through the Celtic lands, using both traditional and contemporary songs and tunes.

During the day, find out about the music from these countries: jigs, reels, strathspeys and more. Hear the differences and similarities. This is a great opportunity to sit, relax, listen and be immersed in gentle airs, fiery jigs and reels as they resonate through the site.

One of the afternoon sessions each day will include the chance to learn a ceilidh dance.

Brimstone is a four-piece band - fiddle, whistle, guitar and bodhran - and they have performed at local festivals around the country.   www.brimstonefolk.co.uk
