Located in the heart of rural Carmarthenshire, this gracious threestorey stone building, once a mill, then a farm stores is still the focal point of St Clears. In more recent years, the building had been converted and adapted to The West Wales Centre for The Crafts, providing an art gallery & exhibition centre. Today, having been taken over by St Clears Town Council, Y Gât/The Gate is now being established as a Community Hub which houses the Town Council offices, a cafe, town library, creative units and various meeting rooms and community space.

Join us at Y Gât/The Gate for a fascinating talk by a local historian on the building’s transformation from mill to community hub, and the development of the St Clears Town Heritage Trail. Visitors can then enjoy a guided walk along the trail, featuring 12 interpretive panels with QR codes and an accompanying audio trail. A highlight will be a visit to St Mary Magdalene Church, with a representative sharing its history. Artwork by local primary school children will be on display, and light refreshments will be served. Headsets for the audio trail are available from Y Gât/The Gate.

Booking is not necessary as spaces are unlimited. Additional information about the event can be obtained by emailing gate@stclearstowncouncil
