Open Doors - The Carriageworks, Denbigh
This three-storey, former Williams Brothers horse-drawn carriage factory, was built in 1868. It is a rare example of Denbigh’s industrial heritage and is important as part of the town’s conservation area. Each floor specialised in fabricating different components. The vertical production passed up through the floors through trap using chains. Although the business diversified into coachwork for chassis, it did not thrive in the world of the motorcar. The sympathetic conversion into an arts and crafts centre retained many of the industrial features and artefacts. Currently the property is a cross disciplinary studio and gallery run by Studio MADE.
The 2025 Denbigh Open Doors Weekend launches Friday 19th September 2025 with an evening lecture exploring property deeds at the Theatr Twm o'r Nant.
